BUDGET DEBATE BEGINS

Debate on the 2010-2011 Annual Budget began in the House of Assembly Wednesday June 2nd, 2010 at 10am. Criticisms of tax increases and cut-backs in the document have poured in, however the Prime Minister has gone on record to state that the 2010-2011 Budget is designed to put the nation's "fiscal house in order".

Ingraham announces tax changes

Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Hubert Ingraham announced in the House of Assembly yesterday that the government has decided to adjust the criteria by which imported vehicles are categorized for customs duties, and to lower the tax he announced last week that will be applied on local beer production.

Record number of teams in for BBF Nationals

A record number of teams will take to the field in the 8th Annual Andre Rodgers National Baseball Championships, hosted by the Bahamas Baseball Federation (BBF). The 37 teams, from leagues around the country, will invade Freeport, Grand Bahama, where the championships will be played Friday-Sunday.
